As the Nanyang (Southeast Asia) headquarters of Dr. Sun Yat Sen’s Chinese Revolutionary Alliance or Tong Meng Hui, Singapore assumed a pivotal role in the 1911 Revolution which eventually overthrew the Qing dynasty and led to the birth of modern-day China. Dr. Sun had many loyal overseas Chinese supporters such as Teo Eng Hock, Tan Chor Lam and Lim Nee Soon. They provided invaluable support in the form of fundraising activities and the dissemination of revolutionary principles and ideals. Today, the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall is a national monument and heritage institution managed under the National Heritage Board. The refurbished museum traces Dr. Sun's revolutionary activities in Southeast Asia, the contributions of the Singapore Chinese to the 1911 Revolution, as well as the impact of the revolution on Singapore and the Chinese community.

Admission to the fort is free, and there are guides for visitors who wish to make pay for a guided tour. Inside the fort is the Surrender Chamber, in which are displays of the British Surrender in February 1942, and of the Japanese Surrender at City Hall in September 1945. Entry to the Surrender Chamber is free.

Historical resources have shown that Singapore played an integral part in the progress and development of musical boxes in South-east Asia during that time frame. In this Singapore’s first musical box museum, we aim to share the historical background from the rise to the fall of the musical boxes to how it made its way to Singapore in the 19th century to the public. We aim to also, to function as a repository for academic research, education and above all, preservation of such artifacts in Singapore for future generations.

With 21 gallery spaces, ArtScience Museum has held large-scale exhibitions by some of the world’s major artists, including Leonardo da Vinci, M.C. Escher, Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol and Vincent Van Gogh since opening in February 2011. In addition, we have presented significant exhibitions that explore aspects of science including including particle physics, big data, robotics, palaeontology, marine biology and space exploration.
